Wines of South Africa launches new sustainability seal and video

Unveiling its animated video explaining South Africa`s new sustainability seal on wine bottles, Wines of South Africa officially launched its seal on April 21 in the USA at one of New York`s most visible venues and events: Earth Day New York at Grand Central Station, a major indoor fair celebrating Earth Day, and promoting environmental awareness and solutions.

Wines of South Africa`s video was displayed prominently on a video monitor looping the entire day, along with video images of the beautiful South African winelands. The South Africa booth, backed by colorful banners and flags, was staffed by experts who answered questions and talked about how the South African wine industry is leading the way in sustainable wine-growing and wine production.

Key themes of biodiversity, integrity, traceability, and ethical trading were also emphasized along with sustainability. Wines of South Africa`s new sustainability brochure provides an appealing and succinct discussion of the often-complex issues involved in taking an entire industry in the direction of sustainability, eco-friendly production and environmental leadership. The Earth Day booth was co-sponsored by Brand South Africa, South African Airways and the South African Consulate General-New York.

South African wines were the exclusive wines poured at the Earth Day New York 2011 opening night reception in Grand Central`s Metrazur restaurant that featured talks by U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney and other environmental leaders. New York City Council President Christine Quinn headlined Earth Day New York`s press conference on April 21 at the Earth Day fair.
