Wines of South Africa at Wine Professional, 9 – 11 January 2017 in Amsterdam

Wines of South Africa participated with a user-pay stand at Wine Professional in Amsterdam in January 2017 with around 12 brands (tasting list available). The wine themes were: MCC, Unique Terroir, Unusual Suspects and Organic . Showing organic wines and interesting grape varieties fits in with a key market trend. Sparkling wine is also a growing category in The Netherlands.

The well-known Dutch Sommelier, Lotte Wolf, hosted two South African workshops and in one of them she also used two wines from the Wines of South Africa stand. There was also a vertical tasting of De Toren hosted by the importer, all of which created a lot of buzz for South Africa at the show.

Niek Beute (VinoNiek), Almar Wessels (sommelier Restaurant Lauswolt), Sara Channell (WOSA), Marco Westra (Maître De Hoefslag) en Vladimir Sarkysian (sommelier Heren van Harixma)

Wine Professional is the biggest professional wine show in The Netherlands and this year proved again how important it is to be present and interact with trade, media & sommeliers. In total we had around 70 key trade contacts visit the Wines of South Africa stand and interested importers contacting producers who do not yet have representation in the market.
