WELCOME TO WINES OF SOUTH AFRICA SOMMELIER SYMPOSIUM 2023

Wines of South Africa (WoSA) will be hosting a group of sommeliers from our key focus markets for our inaugural Sommelier Symposium.

The aim of this symposium is to create a platform to enrich and educate our important on-trade professionals, influencers and partners on South African wine.

Each of our country managers can bring a limited number of sommeliers to attend the symposium for this trip of a lifetime, but one of the standard requirements are that the sommeliers are active decision makers within their organisations when it comes to the selection and purchasing of wines.

In order to enter for participation sommeliers will have to complete the newly developed ‘Level 2’ online course which is hosted on the WoSA website. This course, which was developed by the Cape Wine Academy, gives them some insights into our winelands, the main varietals and sustainability efforts employed by our industry.

The successful candidates will be hosted in South Africa for a tour of the winelands which will run from 10-17 September 2023. Throughout this week they will visit some of the Cape’s most prestigious wineries, be educated on our varietals in a series of masterclasses, meet and taste wines with our award-winning winemakers, dine in some of South Africa’s iconic restaurants and explore the wonderfully diverse cuisine on offer – all against the backdrop of some of the world’s most breathtakingly beautiful winelands.
