On Monday November 28th Wines of South Africa organized a Platter’s 5* tasting in Amsterdam. The venue was the trendy cookbook shop of Mevrouw Hamersma Kookboekwinkel (home to the well-known journalist Harold Hamersma and his wife, Karin).
Recently the 8th edition of the World Bulk Wine exhibition took place in Amsterdam (21 & 22 November). Excellent growth for the event saw 25% more visitor registrations compared to 2015. This year there were more than 6,000 visitors from a total of 66 countries who came to sample the wines on offer. The quality of visitors was perceived as high.
For the second time WOSA participated in the Sydafrikanska Vinpasset (The South African Wine Passport) consumer show. The aim of the Passport is to drive traffic to the various stands by guiding the visitors to the South African wines that are displayed throughout the venue.
The world’s first Wine and Food Tourism Conference has just come to a close in Stellenbosch, South Africa. What better place could there be to hold what is rapidly becoming an important and lucrative aspect of the wine trade than in the heart of the Cape Winelands?

Sunday, 4 September, Frankfurt, 10:00 am: the first trade visitors are already waiting patiently to starting their tasting marathon at the “Südafrika Weinshow”. The white wines are chilled, the reds are open, and the exhibitors are getting their presentation tables ready in the grand ballroom of the chic Radisson Blu Hotel.
Over 100 sommeliers from fourteen Asian countries entered the Asia round of this year’s Wines of South Africa Sommelier Cup competition. We are delighted by the widespread interest and very impressed with the knowledge and ability of the participants.
It has been three years since Wines Of South Africa last hosted a tasting of South African wines in Stockholm. On the 9th of May we had 25 exhibitors present, one table of ‘New Wave’ wines, and wines from 81 producers in total available for tasting.
On Monday May 9th fourteen talented sommeliers competed in the Wines of South Africa Sommelier Cup country semi final for The Netherlands in Hotel de l’Europe, Amsterdam.
The Wines of South Africa Grand Tasting 2016 took place at the Epic Sana Hotel in Luanda, Angola on Thursday 12th May 2016, showcasing 20 wine brands and was well received by the 250 attending guests comprising of trade, media and consumers.
Around 90 wineries were represented in 2016 at the South Africa booth at ProWein Düsseldorf –the biggest International Fair for Wine and Spirit in Europe which took place, from 13.–15th of March.
