WOSA at Wine Professional, Amsterdam:  8 – 10 January 2018

Wines of South Africa participated in  Wine Professional from 8 to 10 January 2018. This is the biggest wine trade show in The Netherlands (10.000 visitors) – attracting key importers, media, wine shops and on-trade. 

The theme of the Wines of South Africa stand was Platter’s 5* star winners from the latest Platter’s Wine Guide and tasters stood a chance of winning a Platter’s Guide if they posted on social media. This lead to extra activity and excitement at the stand and eager posting on social media. 

The stand was very busy over all three days. It was interesting to note that importers are still looking for new listings from South Africa. Quite a few importers and restaurants are traveling to South Africa over the next couple of weeks for holiday and wine tasting. 

Sommelier Arjen Pleij from Kasteel Engelenburg also gave a masterclass on South African wines with their chef – doing some very interesting wine and food pairings and showing the great match of premium SA wines in the on-trade.

The quality of the wines were appreciated and it is clear that premium South Africa has found its place and recognition in the Dutch market.
