PRESS RELEASE: Wines of South Africa Celebrates Sustainability at ProWein

This year the South African wine industry will celebrate 10 years of the groundbreaking ‘Sustainability Seal’ as we shift our focus not only to the conservation of our land, but also that of our people and industry as a whole through programmes such as the Integrated Production of Wine (IPW), the Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association (WIETA) and the WWF Conservation Champions, amongst others.

Wines of South Africa (WoSA) will therefore position this as a key event on our annual calendar as we take up our designated space in Hall 9 with 87 exhibiting producers, representing in excess of 150 brands from 15-17 March in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Alongside 14 of our black empowered producers such as Aslina Wines, Carmen Stevens Wines, Libby’s Pride Wines and Tesselaarsdal Wines, look out for industry stalwarts such as De Wetshof, Jordan Wine Estate, Libertas Vineyards and Estates, Raats Family Wines, Stellenrust and Thelema Mountain Vineyards, to name but a few. A full list of exhibitors is available on the WoSA ProWein website.

With so many producers, WoSA has once again partnered with Bottlebooksto provide visitors with an online catalogue that they can access beforehand to identify which stands they would like to visit. A full list of the wines on show can be found in the Bottlebooks Online Catalogue. Visitors will be able to create lists and find contact details of exhibiting producers in order to pre-arrange meetings.

The ‘Discover South Africa’ theme tasting area has grown to become one of the highlights for visitors to ProWein. This year, the area will showcase two distinct themes. In the morning from 10:00 to 13:00 60 of SA’s top award-wining whites and Cap Classiques will be showcased. Then from 14:00 until 17:00 visitors can sip their way through a selection of Pinotage wines and that of their parent varietals, Pinot Noir and Cinsault. Sample your way through traditional Pinotage, Cape Blends (30%-70% Pinotage) and Lighter style Pinotage with ABV levels of less than 13,5% in this relaxed self-pour area.

For those who would like to gleam more of an insight into Cap Classique, the sparkling wine that is perfected by time, WoSA are delighted to host a seminar on Monday, the 16th of March at 12:00. The seminar will be hosted by Graham Beck Cellarmaster, Pieter (Bubbles) Ferreira, in Hall 10 and guests will be seated on a first come, first served basis.
The theme of the seminar is: Cap Classique – Uniquely South African.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Wines of South Africa information booth, Hall 9: B48, where our international team will guide you through the wines and scenic winelands of South Africa.
