Intro:

The aim of this tasting and the unusual format is to create a hype around a new way of presenting wines from one country. In this way we hope that the level of excitement around the new concept will be higher than for other generics.

The set up will be built on different themes and there will also be a self-pouring area with the possibility for importers to get involved on a smaller scale. The tasting is a take-over of a gastronomical building in the Old Town, which contains of a number of restaurants/venues in which each of the themes will be hosted.

Description:

The Concept: Guests explore various venues throughout the building while tasting wines from South Africa. Each venue will represent one of the following themes:

1. The Sustainables

Wineries with a sustainable angle (social and environmental)

2. The Newbies – Cutting their teeth

Winemakers that have been making wine for 10 years or less.

Wine brands that have been created and available commercially for 10 years or less.

3. The Femme Fatales

Wineries with female winemakers/owners.

4. The Cool Ones

Wineries that are situated in a cool climate.  Hemel-en Aarde, Elgin, Elim, Darling, Constantia or similar.

The winery needs to have 75% of their production named W.O from above places.

5. The Classics

Well established producers with a history of making wines that stretches over 50 years or more.

As an exhibiting producer, you can pick the theme that you find most suitable for your style of wines.  Since this concept hasn´t been done before, the themes might have to be tweaked in the end.   If you feel that your organisation does not fit into any of the above themes, please send us a suggested theme to consider as we don't want to exclude anyone wherever possible.  All participating producers will be placed in different rooms in the building and we will use the fixed interior from the restaurant for presenting the exhibitors.

Please note:  The set-up is NOT that of a tranditional tasting and therefore all “tables” will look different!
